CompactPRO from Seek Thermal is an advanced thermal imaging camera accessory designed for smartphones. Thermal imaging works in environments without any ambient light. Like near-infrared illumination, thermal imaging can penetrate obscurants such as smoke, fog and haze. Thermal imaging has been in use by defence organisations for a while now.

All objects emit heat in the form of infrared energy as a function of their temperature.The hotter an object is, the more radiation it emits. The heat sensor is capable of detecting tiny differences in temperature. The device collects all the infrared radiation from objects in the scene and creates an electronic image based on information about the temperature differences.

The CompactPRO will work on both iPhone and Android, and will be available at a price around $500.

This CompactPRO features a large, 320×240 thermal sensor with high sensitivity and a wide, 32-degree field of view. Offering adjustable thermal span, level, and emissivity settings.

The new Seek Thermal app can set and lock a temperature range to display the maximum thermal information of any object or scene with a set point and range. You can also calibrate for emissivity through easy, pre-defined settings. Compensate for various surface materials, ensuring accurate readings and reporting.

The new update which is expected this August would also supports Radiometric File Format, the ability to store 76,800 pixels of thermal measurements for post-analysis and documentation. Also supports enhanced palette options provide the visual capabilities necessary to help users easily examine and understand thermal imagery.

You can choose from 4:3 or 16:9 formats displaying all temperature data for the maximum clarity and options responsive to your device format and size. The camera provides you spot temperature, High / Low temperature, Level and Span, Above Threshold, Below Threshold, Equal Threshold, and Thermal+ Visible user modes.
